Beauty | The Pink Lip Edit - Part 1

Pink and Berry Lips - Tanned Skin - Bourjois Rouge Edition Barry M Lip Stain

So there I am watching Youtube, wondering what a certain vlogger is wearing on her lips: it's a deep, dark, dusky pink and it looks like nothing I've ever tried before. Except a quick scroll through the comments tells me that I have-- it's Revlon's matte balm in Sultry. Sultry that looks subdued and uninteresting as anything against my skin tone. It can be frustratingparticularly in the UK where we can't return make-up products if we don't like themtrying to find out what colours might work for you when they can look so different from person to person. With that in mind, I decided it might be an idea to put together a post showing you what some pink products look like against my skin tone and on my naturally highly pigmented lips. I hope this is helpful for some of you! In Part 1 I look at Revlon's Colourburst Lip Butter in Macaroon, Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet paints in Nudist and Happy Nude Year and Barry M's lip stains in Eternal Coral and Infinite Pink:

1st row left      | Revlon Colourburst Lip Butter in 096 Macaroon. Warm, pinky coral. Tiny reflective shimmer running throughout. Balmy texture that makes it comfortable to wear. Opaque with good colour pay-off. Absolutely terrible staying power on me, but I do have oiler-than-usual lips. NiiiceFull review here. Psst... I wish I could say I was 13 when I wrote this terrible review... but I can't. soz.

1st row right  | Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet in Happy Nude Year. Light, warm pink. Slighter lighter and brighter than Nudist. Matte/velvet texture but still very comfortable to wear. Good staying power. Wouldn't consider this to be a 'nude' on my skin-- it's so light and pink in colour that it almost 'stands out' more because of this. Full review here.

2nd row left     | Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet in Nudist. Very, very similar to Happy Nude Year-- it's very slightly deeper and less bright. Again, matte/velvet texture but comfortable to wear. Good staying power. I prefer this as a nude against my skin tone because it's more muted, despite being darker, than Happy Nude Year. Full review here.

2nd row right |  Barry M Lip Stain in Eternal Coral (438). Very bright, verging on fluorescent. Velvet matte finish. Very, very good staying power. I like to layer this under other similar-coloured lip products to get hours and hours and hours of strong, vibrant colourit almost works like a primer. Full review here.

3rd row left      | BarryM Lip Stain in Infinite Pink (436). Cool-toned, fluorescent, bubblegum pink. Velvet matte finish. Opaque. Full review here.
